Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy

Our aquatic therapy program is hosted by the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC) in their Therapy and Teaching pool.   The pool is a 91 degree, warm water pool especially designed and equipped for children and adults with varying impairments, limitations, and disabilities.  The pool depth varies from 3 feet to 5 feet.  Toys and equipment are provided by Dynamic Therapies, Inc. as well as the RBAC for therapy use.

Aquatic therapy is a specialized treatment method that takes place in a safe and controlled water environment.  It can be used as a substitute for or adjunct to land-based therapy.  The many properties of water such as buoyancy, support, and accommodating resistance can enhance interventions for children with various impairments, limitations, and disabilities.

Aquatic therapy exercises are designed and implemented under the direction of a licensed physical or occupational therapist.  Our therapists can also work with your child’s current physical and/or occupational therapist(s) to support and/or enhance current treatment interventions and goals.

Pilaté Fit

Dynamic Therapies, Inc. will now offer a new wellness program.  Pilates for your kids!  The foundation of Pilates is to have total body engagement.  A strong core does not mean strong abdominals it means having a stable base allowing for improved movement of the limbs.  At Dynamic Therapies, Inc. we want to take the concepts and exercises traditional to Pilates and adjust those to fun exciting sessions for your children.  Allowing them to develop strength in these key areas can provide for increased success with movement in the future.

Why Wellness?

Wellness is a huge topic in our society today.  Recently there has been more of a push for health and prevention. Some important aspects of wellness with children and across the lifespan are:

  • Idea of maintaining optimal health as an individual
  • Establishing healthy habits early, and into adulthood
  • Exercise: builds muscle mass, strength, balance, endurance, and confidence
  • Group activities promote peer and parent bonding
  • Prevention of ailments and sickness

What is Pilates?

Pilates has a long and detailed history. It began as one man’s quest to overcome the many ailments he experienced as a child.   From there Joseph Pilates expanded his practice taking elements of body building, gymnastics, and diving. During WWI Pilates was a rehabilitative tool for the sick and injured, it then became a training tool for the new German army. From there Pilates’ and his wife Clara progressed and refined their practice using it to train dancers, gymnasts, circus performers, and athletes. While there have been some modifications to exact exercises over the years Pilates has remained fairly constant in it’s focus on wellness and longevity throughout the lifespan. Achieving this through movement and exercises which promote: correct posture, breathing, strengthening, body control and awareness, muscle activation, flexibility, agility, endurance, balance, concentration & relaxation.
